Lord GoldenOak, Mabon 2007
Austin, TX
Born in El Paso, Texas, I was raised in the panhandle town of Pampa. As you might imagine…not a very exciting town! My parents, and theirs, were of the Protestant flavor of Christianity, and so my first exposure to faith was sort of bounced between Baptist, Methodist, and Presbyterian Churches. I had my exposure of pulpit pounding! Even at that early age, I felt something missing, or not quite right. (At least for me!) Eventually my family found ourselves in the Episcopal Church of St. Matthews, and I had my first taste of ’the smells and the bells’, and a milder form of dogma.
At some time around then I became exposed to Witchcraft, and Wicca. Popular media of the time made it very lurid and exciting, I saw through it…but couldn’t help but know there was something else about it that drew me. Around then, I was given a set of Tarot. I was 12. By the time I was graduating High School it became slightly easier in my neck of the “woods’ to find reputable books on Wicca (Farrar, Cunningham, Buckland) although I had to travel to Amarillo to get them. What I was reading excited me, and struck me to my core. It was like finding a long lost and favorite thing of the heart.
From that time I practiced magic, as I understood it, and worshipped the Gods in my fashion-again-as I understood to do so. I discovered that I knew that both Goddess and God dwelt within me as well as without. I moved away from home, spending some of that time in the beautiful Willamette Valley in Eugene, Oregon. After four years, I returned to Texas, but this time to the Hill Country, Kerrville, and shortly afterward in 1989, to Austin. Before that time, I didn’t know there was a green area in Texas! The panhandle ain’t green!
While working in Austin, going to school, and settling in, I began to feel I needed something more. Finally, in 2002, I contacted Lady Selkhet, and Phoenix Moon Grove. Gradually, over eight years with Lady Selkhet, and the rest of the Coven and Grove, I walked and worked through my path, exploring my spiritual ‘coming home’. In August of 2010, by the grace of the Gods and with Lady Selkhet’s help I arrived at my Third Degree. I hived off at Samhain of that year, and in December consecrated my temple, Oak Henge Grove. Yule of 2010 marked my first Sabbat as High Priest in the service of the Lord and the Lady.
I am a Cosmetologist, Licensed Massage Therapist, and Esthetician by trade. I enjoy all three very much.
My interests and hobbies include various forms of needlework, and many other crafts. I enjoy music, a good earthy joke, Tarot, making beeswax candles, and mead--when I can.
Teaching the student classes has been very enriching, and I look forward to more, and leading others along the path of the Wise Ones! I eagerly anticipate opening the doors of transformation, for those who are ready, willing, and able.
